Apple Pay is now open to LHV’s clients

3. March 2020

Starting today, 1 February, clients of LHV Pank are able to perform Baltic share transactions without a service charge. As before, the holding of Baltic securities also remains free for all LHV clients.

Apple Pay is a payment solution available for the iPhone and other Apple smart devices, which allows for contactless payments at merchants, while also making online or in-app purchases. By using Apple Pay you will no longer need to carry your bank cards with you.

‘Without a doubt, Apple Pay is one of the most awaited new solutions by clients. I thank our clients for their patience. Since nearly half of our clients use an iPhone, and paying by telephone is truly convenient, it is expected that the new solution will quickly find many users’, said Kadri Kiisel, Head of Retail Banking at LHV. ‘Within the past couple of years contactless payments have become popular in Estonia, with the adoption of Apple Pay making contactless payments even more convenient and easier than before’.

Initially, LHV bank cards can be added to Apple Pay via the Wallet, although it will soon be possible to activate Apple Pay via the LHV mobile app. Remember that the card must be added separately to each device that you want to use Apple Pay with. In order to use Apple Pay, your device must have Face ID or Touch ID and the latest version of the software. You also need an Apple ID account. Apple Pay is a secure payment method, since Apple Pay uses a device-specific number and unique transaction code when making the payment. Which means that your payment information is never stored on your device or on Apple’s servers. And Apple never shares your card number with merchants. Additional security is provided by the fact that each payment made via iPhone, iPad or Mac must be confirmed using facial recognition, a fingerprint or a password.
