Google Pay is easy to set up

Go to the LHV app, activate the card information in Google Pay and you're done. To use the service more securely, set a PIN-code for Google.

How do I use Google Pay?

You can use Google Pay anywhere you see one of the following symbols:

With Google Pay, you can pay in stores, restaurants, taxis, and more. All you have to do is tap the terminal with your phone and the payment is done.

Private and secure

Paying with Google Pay is secure, as each transaction uses a device-related number and a unique transaction code. Your card data is never stored on your device or service provider's server. Also, your card number will not be forwarded to the merchant at the time of payment. This allows you to make contactless payments with your phone without any worries.

Google Pay works on Android devices with Near Field Communication (NFC) enabled.

If you can't use Google Pay:

  • Check if your phone is set to use Google Pay as the default payment application and not another contactless payment application (e.g. mTasku or another bank payment application). To do this, open "NFC" ("Connections") or "Applications and notifications" in the phone settings;
  • Check if your LHV bank card is connected with Google services. To do this, please go to Settings → Google → Account Services → Google Pay on your phone;
  • Make sure your phone supports contactless payments. To do this, open your phone's settings, enter "NFC" in the search bar, and turn on NFC manually if necessary. If there is no NFC option, you will not be able to make contactless payments with this phone;
  • Check if your phone software meets the requirements. The Android version of the phone must be Lollipop (5.0) or later and the software must have a Play Protect certificate.

Contactless payments by phone are subject to the contactless payment limits of the bank card added to the phone. If you use Google Pay online or in apps, your bank card's online purchase limits apply. You can change the limits in the mobile app and in the Internet bank.

Unfortunately, when you pay with LHV Partner Card through Google Pay, you do not earn points. However, if you have linked microinvestments to card payments, this service will also work for Google Pay payments.

You can return the goods in exactly the same way as for a purchase made with a regular plastic card. You can get more detailed information from the vendor.

If your phone is lost or stolen, use the Find My Device app. It allows you to search for and lock your phone remotely. If you have locked your device, the Google Pay cannot be used.

Because Google Pay never stores your card information on your phone, no stranger who has found or stolen your phone will be able to access your card information (even if your phone does not have a screen lock).

Yes, you can withdraw cash from contactless ATMs with Google Pay. You will need a PIN, which you can find in the LHV mobile app or internet bank.

Unfortunately, you can’t. You can only deposit money at an ATM with a physical card.

If you activate a new card before closing the old card, you won’t have to add the card to Google Pay again. If the old card was closed before the new card was activated, you will have to add the card data a second time.
