On Sunday, during the Estonian women’s basketball team’s European Championship qualifying home game against Great Britain, the Estonian Basketball Association and AS LHV Pank signed a new cooperation agreement, which made LHV the title sponsor of Estonian women’s basketball.
This is a unique cooperation agreement, both in basketball and in Estonian sports as a whole, focusing on the promotion of women’s and girls’ basketball in Estonia. The agreement is valid until the end of 2030, with specific targets having been put in place. The measurement of progress on and achievement of those targets will take place on a regular basis.
‘Estonia is a basketball country, we have a long and successful history. The men’s and boys’ national teams have been competitive in Europe for a long time, and with this sponsorship deal we hope to raise the level of women’s basketball even higher, in particular by strengthening the foundations and inviting more girls into the world of basketball. I would like to thank LHV from the bottom of my heart, as this is a significant day in Estonian women’s basketball,’ President of the Estonian Basketball Association Priit Sarapuu commented.
According to Kadri Kiisel, the Chairman of the Management Board at LHV Pank, it is gratifying to see that women’s sports as a whole is earning greater attention around the world. ‘As a domestic bank, we are happy to support ventures with big goals and people committed to achieving them. It is clear that women’s sports and the title competitions that target them are growing rapidly. Thus, it is important to create opportunities for them. LHV is happy to create new and better opportunities for women’s basketball leaders, coaches, women, and girls to take the sport loved by Estonians to a new level,’ Kiisel said.
