Even the world of sports has not escaped the effects of the coronavirus, which is why LHV, as the main sponsor of Estonian football, decided to pay this year’s Football Card support in two parts. During the first period, more than EUR 36,000 was collected.
LHV’s Football Card is the official fan card of Estonian football, with which the owner can collect support for their favourite club. For each purchase made with the Football Card, LHV will pay 10 cents to the card holder's football club of choice.
While LHV normally pays out the collected support at the end of the year, this year the first support payment will reach clubs in May.
‘The emergency situation caused by the coronavirus has stopped games between Estonian football clubs and in leagues for several months. Our hope is that the support collected with the LHV Football Card will make it a little easier for clubs and the Association to cope during this crisis, and football will once again pick up momentum at the end of this month’, said Erki Kilu, Chairman of the Management Board of LHV Pank.
The first support payments, in the amount of EUR 36,003 for the period of November 2019 – April 2020, will reach clubs and the Association in May, and other support payments, for the period May 2020 – October 2020, will arrive in November. There are a total of 4,458 LHV Football Card users. Last year, a total of EUR 77,694 in support for clubs was collected from payments made with the LHV Football Card.
The most support among Estonian clubs was gathered by Tartu JK Tammeka EUR 2,710; Tallinna FC Flora EUR 2,041; and Nõmme Kalju FC EUR 1,618.
In addition to supporting your favourite club, the LHV Football Card is also of benefit to the card holder, since you can use it to obtain several discounts: always at least 10% on tickets to home matches of the Estonian National Team and free entry to the home matches of Estonian youth national teams; discounts at Sportland and Baltman shops, MyFitness clubs, and on service at ABC Motors.
This year is the 10th year of cooperation between LHV and the Estonian Football Association. In December, cooperation was extended for at least the next five years.
